Youth and professional artists have created an interactive song and dance performance teaching safe practices in collaboration with local police for children and families in neighborhoods or community centers in local underserved communities.
SAFE! Team is built on a baseball theme of the umpire's "Safe!" motion putting arms out. When a child sees a gun - "Stay safe! Hands away, don't play. Take 3 steps back. Stop! Tell someone." SAFE! Team promotes gun safety through education of both children and families, teaching children to stay away through memorable song and dance and promoting the safe communication of minority youth with police officers through discussion encouraged by teen performers.

The young artists and their mentors worked with St. Louis Metropolitan Police to create educational messaging for children and families to teach the safe procedures to kids when they see a gun and to encourage adults to unload and lock guns for safe storage. This practice can prevent unintentional shootings and help prevent teen suicides.
